Where is the City? Public Money should Serve Public Interests. Throughout the city, people in the areas impacted worst by Sandy are fighting for their lives and communities against black mold and bureaucracy. Tell mayor Bloomberg the city must provide emergency local housing, immediate mold remediation, and an end to the red tape.
The government response has been glaringly inadequate:
- Families have lost their homes and apartments.
- They are offered loans instead of grants or cash assistance, falling further into debt.
- Insurance companies, FEMA, SBA, & Rapid Repair are not answering questions.
- Elected representatives are not revealing long-term plans being made for the area.
- Community residents are being pushed out while real estate speculators move in
This is unacceptable. On Saturday at 5pm we rally at Bloomberg’s home at 17 East 79th to demand immediate action. Join us! Hurricane Sandy was a disaster, but the lack of government response is shaping up to be another kind of catastrophe. We deserve better!
