The purpose of this project is to assist the Occupy Movement in moving forward towards a cohesive unified message that is representative of all People and, most importantly, to facilitate the translation of the ideals of the movement into concrete organized action that we can take in order to empower ourselves and regain control of our communities.

The central principles of Collaborative Localism are:

- that all those who are affected by any decisions made must be directly included in the making of those decisions
- that every individual within the community must be empowered to live fully self-sufficiently if they choose to do so, while also being welcomed and encouraged to participate in the co-operative projects within their community
- that the health of the community and the land it occupies, together with its biological and sociological ecosystems, must be preserved and nourished for the sake of all its inhabitants

In addition to these central principles, the standard policies of Collaborative Localism include, but are not limited to:
- Local organic co-operative food production (while motivating residents to also produce organic food independently)
- Local community owned and controlled democratic participatory systems
- Local community owned and democratically controlled currency and monetary system
- Local community owned and controlled renewable energy systems
For a more in-depth list of policies and principles, please see our Facebook Page. Here is a second paragraph of the long description
