The workers assemblies have declared an end to unequal division of resources, and will have equal and fair remuneration, decided collectively. The factory produces building materials, and they have declared that they plan to move towards a production of these goods that is not harmful for the environment, and in a way that is not toxic or damaging. For the first time since November’s Black Friday walkout, US Walmart retail workers are out on strike. On February 8, at noon, half a dozen workers in Laurel, Maryland, walked off the job in protest of alleged retaliation by Walmart management.
Workers allege that Walmart exploited that agreement to unleash a new round of intimidation against workers. They say that Walmart managers held mandatory meetings in which managers read from a memo telling workers that the strikes had been illegal, and that OUR Walmart was being dissolved. “They said that anybody who associates themselves with OUR Walmart, and the leaders, and the organization as a whole, could face disciplinary actions,” said Harris. He said he had not been pulled into such a meeting, but had heard about them from co-workers in states including Florida, Illinois, Kentucky and Maryland. Continue reading

Fellow occupier, it’s time to take a stand and support the workers who are standing up to live better through an unfair labor practice strike.
Walmart workers decided to strike on Black Friday after they were targeted for retaliation for speaking out about substandard work conditions and treatment last month in the first ever walk out in the history of the company.
We ask you to help us feed the workers who will walk out on the company next week on the biggest shopping day of the year.

The union vote has been certified by the NLRB, which means that Sonny Kim, the owner of Golden Farm, must negotiate in “good faith” with the union for a contract. However, this doesn’t guarantee anything. Help keep the pressure on Sonny Kim to pay his workers the back wages he stole from them, and give them a contract with sick days and overtime pay! The town of Freeport, Illinois is fighting back against vulture capitalists like Bain Capital who sweep into their hometowns, closing down family-supporting jobs and outsourcing them overseas, so they can pay slave labor wages and pocket the profits. All on the backs of American workers. The people of Freeport have organized an encampment across the street from Sensata (the company being closed down) to send a message to Bain and others like them that they will not lie down. The Overpass Light Brigade paid a visit to Bainport (as the encampment is being called) to spread the word about the community’s efforts and the destruction created by vulture capitalists like Bain.
