Welcome to the InterOccupy newsletter for the week of October 2nd, 2012. We hope you're getting ready for some ACTION because October is going to be a big month globally! All over Europe, actions and events against austerity measures have already begun and will continue throughout the month.

Meanwhile globalNOISE is gearing up for the big day on October 13th of global potbanging and noise as a show of international solidarity across all of our movements. Take a look at how many locations are already onboard, visit the globalNoise hub to join their mailing list, and help share the globalNOISE media across all the worldwide social networks!

On October 20th there is a World-wide Protest against #surveillance-Systems #Trapwire #INDECT, including an online action you can easily participate in from home.

Then, a brand new initiative has just been called for from Montreal called VIA22  which is a global day of action planned for October 22nd and continuing to occur on the 22nd of every month. The idea of VIA22 is to collectively express the need that our marches and demonstrations become spaces for sharing knowledge about alternatives. We will raise collective consciousness, support and connect initiatives around the world, and contribute to the dialogue between global and local. Strength comes from creativity and unity! They just started the @Via22Global hub – this would be a great time for you to get involved in helping VIA22 get going right from the start!

And of course, there's the International Week on Debt 10/8-10/15, the Global Education Strike on 10/18 and the International Seed Dispersal on 10/24!

Welcome to October follks. It is looking to be an exciting month for our global movement!

InterOccupy is committed to upholding clear channels of communication for the movement.  We don't create or own any of the newsletter content; we simply deliver the information that comes to us via the newswire and coordination Hubs on InterOccupy.net.

HOW OCCUPY BIRTHED A RHIZOME BY JOAN DONOVAN
While the Situationists distributed communiqués and shared ideas through graffiti, Occupy protests began with the writing on digital walls that led to encampments across the globe. This article looks at OWS as a rhizome, a nodal mass of roots that grows horizontally under the soil, such as a root of ginger. Breaking off one or more of a rhizome’s nodes doesn’t injure it; that’s how it reproduces.Read More
