Brendan Martin is a co-founder of the OWS Worker Cooperative working group. As part of the working group he has supported the development of half a dozen worker co-ops directly related to the Wall Street occupation and the emerging Occupy movement. He was also a member of the now-defunct Alternative Economics working group and has been an outspoken advocate for peer-to-peer cooperative development and multi-stakeholder financing for grassroots economic development.

From Bolder Giving:

We have a special Bold Conversation lined up for September!

Bolder Giving is very excited to announce that Brendan Martin, will be the featured Bold Giver on Thursday, September 20th at 12pm ET.

Nothing about Brendan Martin’s upbringing suggested he would become a radical economist. Nor that his life’s work would be funding worker cooperatives in Argentina, Nicaragua, Brooklyn and Chicago. A movie changed his life. The Take, by Avi Lewis and Naomi Klein, led to a trip to Argentina to learn about the worker cooperative movement there. When Brendan saw the power of worker ownership, he committed most of his time and resources to supporting it, and he has never looked back. If economies are created bypeople, he asks, why can’t we create one that takes human dignity to heart?

You can read his full story here.

I hope you can join us for this call and would appreciate your help in spreading the word about this event to your network at http://brendanmartin.eventbrite.com. Below please find a sample email, facebook post, and tweet to help make this easier.
